Here is a brief update from your local Neighbourhood Policing Team covering activity during Week 6. It has been a very busy week but we have done our best to ensure we are on top of any local issues.

Criminal Damage

We have received reports of criminal damage within the area during the past week. Criminal damage can range from graffiti and vandalism to damage being caused to vehicles, fences, windows, and other property.

We would encourage residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious behaviour, particularly during the evening and overnight periods. Where possible, ensure CCTV systems are operational and consider improving lighting around your property. Even seemingly minor incidents can help us identify patterns and offenders operating within the area.

If you witness criminal damage taking place, or have CCTV, dashcam, or doorbell footage that may assist an investigation, please contact us.

Theft from Shops and Stalls

Officers have also been dealing with reports of thefts from local shops and market stalls. These offences can have a significant impact on local businesses and the wider community.

Business owners are encouraged to ensure high-value items are positioned where they can be easily monitored and that CCTV systems are functioning correctly. Staff should remain alert to suspicious behaviour and report incidents promptly.

Members of the public can help by reporting suspicious activity around retail premises and providing information where they may have witnessed offences taking place. Timely reporting helps officers identify repeat offenders and target patrols in affected locations.

Theft of Motor Vehicle

Reports of theft of motor vehicles have been recorded within the area. Vehicle crime continues to be a concern across many parts of the West Midlands, with offenders often targeting vehicles left insecure or those vulnerable to keyless theft methods.

We encourage vehicle owners to take simple crime prevention measures, including:

• Always locking vehicles and checking they are secure.

• Keeping keys away from doors and windows.

• Using signal-blocking pouches for keyless entry vehicle keys.

• Parking in well-lit areas where possible.

• Considering additional security devices such as steering wheel locks, trackers, or immobilisers.

If you notice suspicious activity involving vehicles, such as individuals checking door handles, looking into parked cars, or loitering around vehicles, please report it.

Robbery

We have received reports of robbery offences within the area. Robbery occurs when force, or the threat of force, is used in order to steal from another person. These incidents can have a significant impact on victims and are treated as a priority by West Midlands Police.

Officers are carrying out enquiries into reported incidents and conducting targeted patrols in areas where offences have occurred. We would encourage residents to remain aware of their surroundings, particularly when walking alone, using mobile phones in public, or travelling during the hours of darkness.

Where possible:

• Keep valuables out of sight.

• Avoid displaying expensive items such as phones, watches, or jewellery unnecessarily.

• Stick to well-lit and populated routes.

• Trust your instincts and move to a place of safety if a situation does not feel right.

Untaxed Vehicles – Community Intelligence Requested

We are continuing to gather intelligence regarding vehicles being used or kept on public roads without valid vehicle tax.

Untaxed vehicles can sometimes be linked to wider issues including abandoned vehicles, anti-social behaviour, uninsured driving, and other criminality. Information provided by local residents helps us identify problem locations and supports enforcement activity with partner agencies.

If you are aware of a vehicle that is regularly being used or stored on a public road without valid tax, please report this. Details such as vehicle registration, location, photographs (where safe to obtain), and the times the vehicle is usually present can be extremely helpful.
